Unique Diabetes Software
Is it a blood-less glucose meter?
A blood glucose meter tells the present and leaves a log of past readings. GlucoSym tells the future. GlucoSym makes a daily 24 hr chart that tells what your blood glucose level will be, minute by minute, hours in advance. This capability depends on a mathematical model, a one time calibration and information about the food you eat and the drugs you take.
Calibration - You collect detailed information about your glucose readings, the drugs you've taken, the food you have eaten, how much, and when. This includes grams of carbohydrate and their glycemic index. (We help you out there with a food database) The program fits this information to a mathematical model of the way the human body uses insulin and glucose. Everyone is calibrated differently and this is done very carefully.
After the software is calibrated, it knows how you as an individual handle carbohydrates and produce insulin. With this knowledge, the software can chart your glucose levels hours into the future based on the foods you eat. Of course, you have to keep telling the software what you have eaten to keep the chart up to date.
This 12 hr chart compares the model to actual blood glucose meter readings. 2 meals were eaten during this time and a 2 mg diabetes pill was taken with the first meal.

The next chart shows the result of taking 1 pill and 1 meal on a 30 hr scale. The chart keeps getting updated as long as you keep telling it what foods you've eaten. During the setup, you set 3 Hypo levels, mild, medium and severe. The chart informs you if there is a hypo alert (because your threshold was reached), the time and amount of the lowest glucose level. Then it tells you the best time to take a snack to avoid the hypo low. Then it updates the chart to show you the result of taking the snack. This information is in the lower right section of the screen.

This chart shows the result of taking a 15 gm snack of carbohydrates at the recommended time. Not hypo anymore. You can take up to 12 meals and 6 diabetes pills each day and the chart will show the composite result. You can do what if experiments and see the results. The software can determine how much time your pill takes to achieve maximum effect and also how long it takes to peak and then decline to 50% (or other %) of maximum effectiveness.

The other input boxes at the bottom of the screen exist in case you want to input optional blood glucose meter readings. Any (checked) blood glucose meter inputs help keep the chart on course. These are the main points. For a further description, download the 30 day free trial and read the help file. Please test the trial version prior to bidding. This software is unique and not available from any other source. GlucoSym will be available on eBay.
This software is intended for type 2 diabetics interested in achieving tighter control over their blood glucose.
